While some patients will be able to start noticing weight loss results within the first month or so, it takes several months before significant results can be realized, as the dosing of the medication will need to be gradually increased to minimize the risk of side effects as much as possible. The medication is administered through injection once per week, with the dosage only increasing if the patient seems to be tolerating the medication well, often takes around 17 weeks before the maximum (maintenance) dose is reached.
